ABUJA – FORMER president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, passed away in the United Kingdom on Sunday.
He was aged 82.
The family confirmed his demise in a London clinic from an ailment it did not disclose.
His successor, President Bola Tinubu, has ordered that all national flags be flown at half-mast.
This also applies to Nigeria’s foreign missions.
“This is a mark of respect for the departed leader who served our country with dedication,” Tinubu stated.
Buhari was a military ruler from 1984 to 1985.
He was democratically elected from 2015 to 2023.
He spent some time overseas during his second presidency to seek medical attention.
