LUSAKA – ZAMBIA and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are taking stock of their relations.
This is through a bilateral engagement between Zambian president, Hakainde Hichilema and Shakhbout Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the UAE.
They met at State House in Lusaka.
Hichilema noted the government-to-government partnership between Zambia and the UAE continued to strengthen, underpinned by robust trade and investment across key sectors such as mining, energy, agriculture and tourism.
He said these collaborations were strategically aimed at translating into tangible economic benefits, creating jobs, fostering entrepreneurship, and unlocking business opportunities for people of both nations.
“We also highly commend the UAE’s commitment to building human capital by offering training for our public service workforce,” Hichilema added.
“This initiative aligns with Zambia’s aspiration to deliver public services that are effective, efficient, and timely, breaking away from the rigidities and bureaucratic inefficiencies.”
Relations between the two countries began in 1974, a decade after Zambia’s independence.
