Honor’s accelerates market share in South Africa

JOHANNESBURG – HONOR, the global provider of smart devices, has pledged solidarity with the continent during this Africa Month.

May is an iconic month for the continent, as it coincides with the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now African Union (AU) in Ethiopia in 1963.

As it marked Africa Month, Honor disclosed that according to the latest Quarter 1 2025 report by Canalys and Omdia, it is the second-largest smartphone vendor in South Africa, commanding 16 percent of the market in volume -with a 659 percent increase in annual growth.

“This level of growth confirms what we’ve always believed – that when you pair world-class technology with real community investment, the market responds,” said Fred Zhou, Chief Executive Officer at Honor Technologies South Africa.

“It’s a testament to our team, our partners, and most importantly, to our South African customers who are embracing innovation on their own terms.”
Honor launched its Talents Global Design Awards in 2022.

It is a flagship initiative that empowers young creatives to reimagine technology through design.

In South Africa, it has opened global doors for local artists, helping elevate African creativity on the international stage.
Honor also sponsors South Africa’s national football team.
