KHARTOUM – THE South Sudan National Oil and Gas Corporation (NilePet) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Russian integrated energy company, Rosneft.
NilePet senior technical advisor, Kamal Mabok, confirmed the deal at the just-ended Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025.
Mabok said NilePet was following up on technical issues to finalise the deal.
The official said this at SPIEF, by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Postal Services.
“Once the deal is sealed, Rosneft energies will be involved in installing South Sudan oil pipelines and refineries to transport and refine oil,” Mabok said.
The Moscow-based Rosneft is a Russian government company which specialises in exploration, extraction, production, refining, transportation and sales of petroleum plus natural gas products.
Russia and South Sudan have been strengthening their bilateral relationship, particularly in areas like energy, trade and security, with a focus on mutual benefit and expanding cooperation.
