Chinese brands itel, Tecno mark Mandela Day

by MTHULISI SIBANDA
JOHANNESBURG – TECHNOLOGY brands, itel and Tecno are recognising Mandela Day, stressing the power of mobile technology in empowering communities.

Mandela Day, celebrated every 18 July, is a global call to action inspired by Nelson Mandela’s legacy of service, equality, and social justice.

itel and Tecno believe that mobile technology is more than just connectivity – it’s a lifeline to education, economic opportunities, and empowerment.

Through affordable devices, more people have access to the tools they need to build better futures, the Chinese brands jointly stated.

“Tecno and itel add that everyone deserves access to the digital world,” they stated jointly.

Both brands encouraged all South Africans to participate in the 67 minutes of service and to support causes that uplift their communities.

“While Mandela Day reminds us of the impact of service, Tecno and itel believe that kindness and giving should not be limited to just one day in a year.”

Mandela Day is marked annually on July 18, the date Nelson Mandela, now deceased, was born.
