NAIROBI – Kenya has removed visa requirements for all African and most Caribbean countries.
Their visitors thus no longer require Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) and no longer need to pay fees for visa.
The move, which however exempts Libya and Somalia because of security reasons, are anticipated to boost the tourism industry and trade.
This is part of efforts introduced earlier this year by the government of President William Ruto.
“As part of efforts to support open skies policies and tourism growth, a key proposal is to grant ETA exemptions to all African countries, except Somalia and Libya, due to security concerns,” a report from the cabinet read.
The East African country also allows visitors to stay for up to two months, while those from the regional bloc are allowed six months.
Kenya’s move comes as countries such as the United States restrict travel into the country by African nationals.
